Routing

The short Interstate 381 constitutes a freeway spur from Interstate 81 into downtown Bristol, Virginia. The only interchange of the route is the northern terminal with Interstate 81/U.S. 58. Otherwise the spur transitions to Virginia 381 en route to U.S. 11/19/421 to the south.

An old and dilapidated set of overheads points the way to Interstate 381 northbound via Virginia 381 from U.S. 11W/Euclid Avenue. This intersection in fact marks the northern terminus of U.S. 11W and the reemergence of U.S. 11. Ahead U.S. 11 and 19 overlap northward along Euclid Avenue. To the right U.S. 19/421 turn southward with U.S. 11E and Virginia 381. The shield for Interstate 381 appears to be original and once displayed the state name of Virginia.
