  • Interstate 81 - VDOT wrestles with two proposals to expand Interstate 81.
  • Interstate 85 - The Greensboro Bypass for Interstate 85 is expected to open by January 2004.
  • Interstate 880 California - widening brings Interstate 880 from four to six lanes in San Jose.
  • Interstate 394 Minnesota - HOT lanes to debut in Minnesota next year.
  • Interstate 695 Maryland - an $800 million expansion of the Baltimore Beltway may entail tolled lanes.
  • Interstate 96 - two failing interchanges to be replaced with the state's first SPUI's.

  • Interstate H-1 - there was once a proposal for an Interstate H4.
  • Interstate 215 - Nevada - the Las Vegas Beltway is now open in some form (freeway or frontage road expressway) for all 52 miles.
  • Interstate 140 - Tennessee - TDOT announced that the Interstate 140 extension will go forward.
  • Interstate 73 - Interstate 73 may travel through the heart of Marion County, South Carolina afterall.
  • Interstate 475 - Tennessee - The orange route selected by TDOT will become reality afterall. Construction will begin in 3 to 5 years.

  • Interstate 22 - the Interstate 22 designation becomes one step closer to reality.
  • Interstate 165 - Alabama - finally added the opening date and total cost figure of the freeway.
  • Interstate 270 - Ohio - added west parent junction photo taken by Dan Garnell (10/27/03).
  • Interstate 670 - Ohio - Interstate 670 is now fully open as of September 19, 2003. Added three photos of the western terminus taken by Dan Garnell (10/27/03).
  • Interstate 480 - Nebraska/Iowa - ghost ramps at the Interstate 480/U.S. 75 interchange at midtown Omaha will be removed.
  • Interstate 86 (Eastern) - Interstate 86 sees the completion of one project and the prospective beginning of another. Officials hope to speed up the completion of the highway to 2008 instead of 2009.
  • Interstate 90 - Exit 66 exists no longer in South Dakota.
  • Interstate 295 - Florida - the last segment to be constructed has broken ground on Florida 9A.

  • Interstate 10 - expansion is underway to widen Interstate 10 from six to eight lanes in west Phoenix.
  • Interstate 12 - the road dubbed the West Florida Republic Parkway receives signs proclaiming the designation.
  • Interstate 30 - Texarkana, Arkansas area projects are underway to improve the Interstate in preparation for Interstate 49.
  • Interstate 840 - Tennessee - the northern half of Tennessee 840 is placed on hold indefinitely.
  • Interstate 49 - Congressional leaders are discussing funding for the Interstate 49 extension projects.
  • Interstate 270 - Maryland - The Exit 1 reconstruction project opens nine months ahead of schedule.
  • Interstate 73 - three Interstate 73 related projects in Randolph County are scheduled for construction.
  • Interstate 576 - Pennsylvania - construction is now underway involving the 6 mile Findlay Connector, the westernmost portion of the Southern Beltway.
  • Interstate 79 - The Cranberry Connector between Interstate 79 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike is now complete.
  • Interstate 279 - Pennsylvania - the 11 year $200 rehabilition project of Interstate 279 is now complete.
  • Interstate 580 - Nevada - work begins on the 4.8 mile Phase I segment of the Carson City Bypass and the 8.5 mile U.S. 395 freeway extension.
  • Interstate 485 - North Carolina - the Mint Hill segment of Interstate 485 is now open to traffic.
  The Charlotte beltway now is continious between Interstate 77 south of the city to Interstate 85 northeast of the city.
  • Interstate 190 - New York - residents of Erie County are advocating the removal of tolls in the city of Buffalo.
  • Interstate 95 - a possible extension of Interstate 95 in Northern Maine is the cause of a grass roots organization in Aroostick County. Additionally South Carolina indicates that it will not implement tolls to help pay for I-95 rehab and widening costs.
