| Now looking in the opposite direction, westbound Downtown Spur I-29 begins by following South Dakota 42 west out of downtown Sioux Falls. Downtown Spur I-29 ends on eastbound 11th Street, and it begins on westbound 10th Street. This shield shows the first westbound shield on 10th Street. This intersection would have been the intersection of U.S. 77 and U.S. 16, but Sioux Falls no longer has any U.S. highways.

Jeff Morrison reports: "The last northbound assembly shows (Downtown Loop I-) 229 heading east with SD 42. The first SD 42 sign east of this intersection doesn't have a Loop 229 shield, but that could be for a variety of reasons (forgot after construction, or no space because all of them in town were side-by-side and a 42/229 shield set couldn't work at that spot). It IS signed from I-229 at both ends northbound - as 'Business,' if you look hard. I did not drive SD 42 to check east-west."

Jeff Morrison reports, "Downtown Loop I-229 is alive and well, at least according to the signage on SD 115, its north-south piece. There was a 229 with every 115 from SD 42 to I-229, and the sign backs indicated they were put up in 2003."

| Downtown Spur I-90 ends once it reaches its intersection with South Dakota 42. South Dakota 115 continues south (South Dakota 115 is former U.S. 77, which has been decommissioned in South Dakota due to the presence of Interstate 29). According to Jeff Morrison, Downtown Spur I-90 was rerouted in the early 2000s onto Benson Road and Minnesota Avenue instead of North Drive. He believes that this reroute leaves much to be desired as it is less direct and has no advance signs at the turn south from Benson Road onto Minnesota Avenue at the east end of the airport. There is no "End" at the north end.
