| The only Business Loop I-83 is old U.S. 111 through the city of York in southeastern Pennsylvania, a town probably best known for producing the rock group Live. Located between Exits 5 and 10, this business route is locally known as George Street. Exit 5 is a left-hand exit from Interstate 83 to Business Loop I-83, and the old big green sign at the exit does not carry the business loop shield. U.S. 111 was one of the first U.S. routes in Pennsylvania to be decommissioned in the 1950-60s. Interstate 83 was originally routed over Business Loop I-83 until it was completed in the 1960s. There used to be a really cool truss bridge along this route; it was removed in the early part of the 2000s. For more, visit Business Loop I-83 in York. |
