Interstate Business Route 39
Although Interstate 39 has no business loops or spurs, it does connect with several U.S. 51 business routes, both in Illinois and Wisconsin. Even Illinois 251 through Rockford could potentially be considered a candidate for being a business connection for both Interstate 39 and U.S. 51.

This U.S. business route has existed for several years prior to the recent commissioning of Interstate 39 along the U.S. 51 freeway in Wisconsin. Since Wisconsin generally does not sign Interstate business loops, it is unlikely that this U.S. business route will be redesignated as an Interstate business loop. |

Business U.S. 51; not signed as Business Loop I-39. This U.S. business route has existed for several years prior to the recent commissioning of Interstate 39 along the U.S. 51 freeway in Wisconsin. Since Wisconsin generally does not sign Interstate business loops, it is unlikely that this U.S. business route will be redesignated as an Interstate business loop. The Interstate designation ends in this area, but it may be extended north to Merrill once the U.S. 51 freeway is brought up to full Interstate standards. At that time, we will be able to add Business U.S. 51 in Merrill (between Exits 205 and 211) to the list. |
